Last May, we refused to celebrate pinkwashing.
While corporate Pride wrapped itself in rainbow flags beside sponsors complicit in genocide, we gathered to create our own Alt Pride events; a grassroots collective and radical pride that remembered Palestine, a Pride that is genocide free, that acknowledged that queerness is subversive and not domesticated and that it cannot be a celebration of liberation until everyone is free.
This year, we return with HURRIYAH 2.0 to once again centre Queer SWANA (+beyond) Pride in love, in rage and in community.
The evening will once again be a shorts film programme followed by a night of Queer SWANA joy through music by our beloved friends, Bledi Party and drag performances. We will also be showcasing and celebrating all the people who made Alt Pride Brum bigger than last year!
We have tiered ticketing and every ticket sale will help us make this event even better than last year! (especially as we aren't funded and will need your support!)
The film programme will start at 9:00pm with doors opening at 8:30pm.
We will have a short break to change the room from cinema to dancefloor, with the party starting at 11:00pm and finishing late.
We will be sharing the event location details but we can share some access information ::
They have wheelchair ramp at the main entrance, the only steps are at this entrance, where we place this ramp. They also have a toilet for disabled attendees. We will also have ear plugs available, a quieter space and free water available. We will have a photographer/videographer, so please let us know if you don't want to be filmed (we will give you a sticker/band so they know not to take pics/videos of you).
If you have any access requirements please email [email protected]
We can't wait to welcome you once again :: NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds, so if you need a complimentary ticket, please email us on [email protected] and we will do our best to ensure you can be there.
